Dosimetric response of Gafchromic™ EBT‐XD film to therapeutic protons

The EBT-XD model of Gafchromic™ films has a broader optimal dynamic dose range, up to 40 Gy, compared with its predecessor models. This characteristic made suitable for high-dose applications, such as stereotactic body radiotherapy and radiosurgery, well ultra-high rate FLASH radiotherapy. purpose the current study was characterize dependence film response on linear energy transfer (LET) therapeutic protons from synchrotron. A clinical spot-scanning proton beam used LET at three dose-averaged values 1.0 keV/μm, 3.6 7.6 keV/μm. research beamline 150 Gy/s in mode 0.3 non-FLASH mode. Film data 0.9 keV/μm 9.0 were also compared. 6-MV photon reference. Both gray value method optical density (OD) calibration. Calibration results using specific OD calculation generic four-parameter NIH Rodbard function three-parameter rational fitting calibration curves. Experimental showed that is dependent, but independent rate. Goodness-of-fit analysis superior both photons. Using “specific + function” recommended.
